On February 20, twenty dedicated BBNV volunteers met to learn about public speaking and leadership development. Eight Buddies attended the training with a vision of becoming Buddy Ambassadors. By completing BUILD training, the Buddies will become official Buddy Ambassadors. As Buddy Ambassadors, they will have opportunities to present original speeches that highlight topics like disability awareness and the mission of Best Buddies. To support the Buddies in their speech writing efforts, the Buddies are matched with Speech Coaches.
The Speech Coaches act as motivators and, occasionally, as scribes. Everyone in attendance at the inaugural BUILD training can attest to the high spirits of the participants and to the building excitement as the Buddies prepare to present their speeches in March.
